Katherine joined Sound Venture Productions in 1985 as a producer. Today she is one of the three principal partners and is Vice President Producer/Director.
Katherine has created and directed over 100 hours of television programs including, "Surviving The Fear" for CTV, "Angels of Mercy" for Global/Canwest, "Canvas of War", "Frame by Frame", and "Personal Essay" for the CBC and Adrienne Clarkson Presents, 65 half-hours of "Homes By Design" for LIFE, HGTV-US, and "The Group of Seven: Art for a Nation" for BRAVO!, and many other programs for CBC, TVO, TFO and The Life Network.
Katherine has garnered many awards over the years including; The Award of Excellence" from The Alliance for Children and Television for "Painting Pictures" and "Get A Life". The YMCA Women of Distinction Award and others.
Katherine's passionate eye for the arts and children's programming has really come to life in her direction of 65 half-hours of "The Toy Castle", where she has been able to embrace dance, music and mime in a magical, wonderful set.
Many people do not realize the commitment and belief one has to have in creating such a magical world. It took Sound Venture 10 years of hard work and overcoming many obstacles for this dream to become a reality.
"The Toy Castle is a dream come true for me. I love children and I love the arts and it's without a doubt my proudest accomplishment. It's a real family and I could not have imagined anything more rewarding in my life than to hear from many other families that they also love The Toy Castle. This project is a collaborative team effort of many creative soles who believe young children enjoy the performing arts and they need to be exposed to it.
